Psychiatric Evaluation
Ethical and effective treatment relies on understanding the client's journey to this point, which is why every client requires an expert diagnostic assessment. With care and compassion, we will walk through the client's experience to examine their values and strengths in addition to areas of hardship and conflict. This step is essential for learning how the client views themselves, their experience, and their hopes for treatment. It is also an opportunity for the client to talk about personal issues in a safe space and to determine if Virtue Psychiatry is a good fit for them.
Psychotherapy
After the initial evaluation, we may continue to explore the client's experience, both past and present. Depending on the client's goals, we may choose from several strategies, including exploring patterns in relationships, challenging hurtful or unhelpful thoughts, building skills around mindfulness and interacting with others, reducing the impact of worry and anxiety, and limiting behaviors that are unhealthy and inconsistent with the client's values.

Some topics and memories take extra care and time to discuss. We apply a trauma-informed approach to support processing difficult-to-manage experiences, and we do so in a manner tailored to the client's needs..

Medication Management
Medications can be useful tools for supporting clients toward their mental health goals. They are best applied in combination with other therapeutic interventions. When a client seeks medication support from Virtue Psychiatry while engaging in therapy with another provider, we seek to collaborate as needed to ensure that treatment methods and goals are consistent and compatible.

When using medications in treatment, we always strive to use the lowest effective dose to limit side effects and unnecessary drug exposure.
